Flags, Banner, Bottles, and Bits
I’ve made props as part of my own Cosplays and for LARP for years. Anything that isn’t ‘worn’ is a prop. More recently I’ve provided props sourcing and making for local Theatre groups (Siege Theatre, 2018 – 2022), conventions (The Great Con-Junction, 2020), and ridden display groups (Worcestershire Cavalry, 2023).
The lead time on props varies with what it is you’re asking for and if it’s a ‘sourcing’ exercise or one that requires me to make from scratch. I’m happy to work with any budget, some of my favourite pieces were made from love and hot glue.
The Great Con-Junction
In late 2019 I was asked if I was interested in making a pile of props to set-dress the ‘Banquet Hall’ food area for The Great Con-Junction, a ‘Dark Crystal’ fan convention. I said yes, absolutely, as that’s one of my favourite movies!
Most props were made from parts-of-things picked up from charity shops, some of these are made of packaging pieces and Christmas decorations. Items made from-scratch are the three Essence Vials made to match those seen in the new ‘The Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance’ series.
The props were very popular and I’m so pleased with how they turned out! Convention attendees were allowed to adopt the ‘Crawlies’ puffy creatures and take them home.
