About

Hello! I’m Alex, I make things. Clockwork Firebird Designs is the collective title for all my skills that I’ve put out into the world. I am a graduate of Durham University with a Masters in English Literary Studies.

Clockwork Firebird Designs (CFD) began as an idea back in 2008 when I couldn’t find any kit for a LARP character I wanted to play. I opened up for commissions alongside my University work just for fun. Now, CFD is my ‘everything that isn’t my day job’.

I have done work as a Supporting Artist for Film & TV (“Solo: A Star Wars Story”, “Masters of the Air”, “Rocketman”, “The Witcher: Series 2”, “Lockwood & Co”, among others), and I have worked in local theatre groups (Siege Theatre: ‘Lord Capulet’ – 2018, Costume and Stage management 2019 – 2022, Oxford Theatre Group Costume management 2021).

I have worked with horses most of my life, I was a typical ‘horsey mad’ kid. Since 2017 I have been focusing on training for Liberty, Classical Dressage, and Stunt work in performance. I am currently part of The Worcestershire Cavalry, and The Order of the Pegasus, ridden display groups.

When I do get a chance to go LARPing you can find me at Profound Decisions’ “Empire” game being a battle poet mage. Do come say hello!
